Greene County Schools started a two-way immersion program in 2003. In this program, students learn English language arts and social students in English for half the day. The other half of the day they learn Spanish language arts, math, and science in Spanish.

Twenty Jones Senior FFA members recently participated in the 93rd North Carolina State FFA Convention, held June 21-23, 2022 at the Raleigh Convention Center. After three years without an in-person convention, Jones Senior FFA members were recognized for their participation and success in several Career Development Events (CDEs) and other accomplishments.
Alexandra Avery of Kinston, NC, (28503) was named to the College of Charleston Spring 2022 Dean's List. Avery is majoring in Studio Art.
Max Jonathan Cain of La Grange earned a Bachelor of Science Cum Laude in Homeland Security from University of Maryland Global Campus.
Kinston, NC resident, Aliza Matthews, has been named to the Dean's List at James Madison University for the spring 2022 semester. Students who earn dean's list honors must carry at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a GPA of between 3.5 and 3.899. Matthews is majoring in dance.
On June 23, 2022, the 2022 Preschool Gradation of Mrs. Lindsey’s Child Care was held at Olivia’s Catering in Kinston.
Reina Kinnaly knows she can be a nagger, but she is unapologetic. Her dogged pursuit of South Lenoir High School seniors this past school year and her insistence they complete the paperwork critical to securing college scholarships, grants and loans have earned the school an NC First in FAFSA Innovation Award from myFutureNC, one of six presented in the state for 2022.
Jones County rising high school seniors Zaria Howard, Tishonna James, Jelani Hargett, Sarah Mills and Briana Jackson were recognized for completing NC Farm Bureau’s Institute for Future Agricultural Leaders program last week!

Dawn Kantz, Lenoir Community College's Associate Dean of Workforce Development and Amy Jones, Lenoir County Public Schools' Director of High School Education and Career Technical Education Programs, recently taped a segment on CBS 17's My Carolina TV show in Raleigh.
