Mrs. Lindsey's Child Care preschool graduation held at Olivia's Catering
On June 23, 2022, Mrs. Lindsey’s Child Care held their 2022 Preschool Gradation at Olivia’s Catering in Kinston.
“We host our graduation at Olivia's Catering every year and Mrs. Susan is absolutely wonderful at coordinating all of my fun ideas together and providing our families with a large space for graduation with refreshments and appetizers included for everyone to enjoy after graduation,” said Lindsey Whitley, owner of Mrs. Lindsey’s Child Care.
There were five children who graduated and over 50 people attended. Whitley especially credits two preschool teachers with the success of the event.
“Mrs. Shimi, who also performs duties as my Assistant Director, has been employed with me for almost seven years,” said Whitley. “Mrs. Angel, our preschool teacher, has been employed with me for three years. These girls are incredible.”
Both teachers have poured their hearts into the children.
“They love, nurture, spoil and teach these children everyday as if they were their very own children,” said Whitley. “I have both of them to thank for the remarkable amount of progress these children have shown throughout their preschool year and for the developmental milestones in education these children have reached.”
Each child performed a different skill learned from their preschool curriculum, receive two awards each, performed a graduation song and dance, and received their preschool diplomas.
“We are actually going to be introducing a new preschool curriculum in August at the start of our new preschool year,” said Whitley. “We will be using the Letterland preschool curriculum beginning August of 2022.”
Letterland teaches phonics using a story-based approach. The story logic engages children leading to long term retention of concepts. The approach is multi-sensory and activates learning through music, actions, alliteration, movement, song, art games and role-play.
“It introduces special techniques to help children understand how sounds and syllables work,” said Whitley. “I have done tons of research and virtual training and I am so excited to introduce this new curriculum this year!”
All children graduating will go to kindergarten.
