Parrott Academy welcomes new head of school

David Moody of Kinston will lead Arendell Parrott Academy as Head of School beginning in August. Moody has most recently served as an Assistant Superintendent in Jones County. He has seven years of experience as an administrator at both the elementary and high school levels and served as the county Director of Curriculum and Instruction. He is currently completing his Doctorate in Education at East Carolina University. He also has a Master’s in School Administration from E.C.U.

Snow Hill Primary is keeping the weekly Terrific Kid Awards going during the summer! Each teacher chooses a student who has been responsible, shows great character, or has reached a personal goal. At the end of the week, these students are presented with an award from the counselor, Mrs. McLawhorn, or an administrator and are congratulated for their hard work. Nation’s premier collegiate honor society inducts Kylie Paige Chadwick into membership

Kylie Paige Chadwick of Beulaville has accepted an invitation of lifetime membership in The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS), the nation’s leading certified honor society for high-achieving first- and second-year college students with a minimum of a 3.0 GPA. Chadwick is a graphic production specialist at Lenoir Community College. She is working on her bachelor degree in Graphic Design at Full Sail University of Florida.

GCMS BETA goes to Nationals

From June 29 to July 2, , the Greene County Middle School Jr Beta Club attended the National Jr Beta Club National Convention at the Swan and Dolphin Convention Center in Disney World. 9 Students, along with their families and team sponsor attended the convention. Students from around the country are invited to attend if they place at their State Level Convention as well as if they want to compete in National Convention Exhibitions.

LCC grad prepares for pharmacy school

Owen White of Kinston set his sights on attending pharmacy school when he was a freshman at South Lenoir High School. Taking advantage of Career and College Promise classes, which allowed him to be dually enrolled at Lenoir Community College and at his high school, he continued his education at LCC with one thought in mind – becoming a pharmacist.
