Stolen firearm recovered as fleeing suspect apprehended by KPD
Officers on C-Squad encountered Marlake Velez on E Lenoir Avenue. During the encounter, Velez fled from officers. Officers were able apprehend Velez shortly after a foot pursuit behind a residence on E Lenoir Avenue.
KPD's Violent Crime Action Team dismantles drug distribution at Ivey
KPD's Violent Crime Action Team concluded an investigation related to criminal activity that involved the distribution of illegal narcotics. A search warrant was for 2207 Ivey Road was obtained and served. During the search, officers located methamphetamine, prescription pills, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a firearm. Harnett County man with outstanding warrants arrested in Kinston
Julian Evan Taylor has outstanding warrants from Harnett County for second degree kidnapping, common law robbery, assault on a female and communicating threats. At around noon Sunday, Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office deputies from the B Shift received information he was hiding in the 3900 block of Cayla Beth’s Lane in Kinston.

Arrest warrants issued in tragic death of 6-year-old child
This is an update to the death of a child that occurred in Lenoir County on Nov. 26, 2022. On Friday, the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office obtained arrest warrants for Brittany Evon Strickland, 32, and Michelle Evon Strickland, 50, both of Jackson County.

From Cold to Closed: Update on Kinston's 2021 homicide
During the month of July 2023, members of the Kinston Police Department’s Investigations Division and the departments Violent Criminal Action Team were able to obtain vital information in the case. This information led detectives to obtain warrants for Ernest McCotter (31) of Hampton, VA and Deshawn Maye (30) of Kinston for the murder of Jerome Gadson on March 14th, 2021.
