Greene County Schools and Police Departments hold Training

SNOW HILL - Last week, the Greene County Sheriff's Office along with Snow Hill Police Department completed its annual Active Shooter training at Greene County Middle School.

According to the GCSO Facebook page “For over 20 years now the Greene County Sheriff's Office has required this valuable training be completed by Deputies each year; however working together with Snow Hill PD, this year was the first year that we were able to conduct this training with our own certified instructors. Snow Hill PD Chief Josh Smith, along with GCSO Sgt. Phillip Heck, became certified this year to teach Active Shooter training. We believe this will be a great asset to both agencies for years to come as well as working to keep our schools safe”

Dr. Frank Creech, Superintendent of Greene County Schools shared that “They have been arranging active shooter training for several years, often collaborating with and participating in the training in other counties. “

Creech also shared that “The Sheriff's Office and Snow Hill PD now have people on staff qualified to lead the training. We welcomed the opportunity for our school facilities to be used for the training this summer.”

He went on to share that this training “gave our law enforcement officers an opportunity to train in the schools they serve. We look forward to continuing to partner with Greene County law enforcement and first responders to make our schools safe.”

Greene County Sheriff Matt Sasser speaks with Dr. Frank Creech, Superintendent of Greene County Schools and Mr. Antonio Blow, Director of Student Services during the annual Active Shooter Training at Greene County Middle School

In addition to the Greene County Sheriffs Office and Snow Hill Pd participating they were joined by members of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol and the NC Wildlife Law Enforcement.
