On Thursday, March 11, 2021 around 3:41 p.m., Officers responded to a call of shots fired in the area of College St. Kinston, NC. Officers began searching the area and located several shell casings on the 900 block of College St.
On Thursday, March 11, 2021 around 3:34 p.m., Officers responded to multiple call of shots fired in the area of Charlotte Ave. and Dixon St. Kinston, NC. Officers arrived and located several shell casings in the roadway but no injuries or property damage was reported.
On Sunday, March 14, 2021, at 3:33 a.m., Kinston Police responded to the area of 2210 Old Snow Hill Rd. to reports of shots fired. While officers were responding to the area, Officers were advised that two gunshot victims had shown up at UNC Lenoir.
At approximately 10 a.m. today, the Lenoir County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a gunshot victim on Patterson Road. Deputies arrived and found one victim shot; he was transported to the hospital by Lenoir County EMS. The incident occurred on the property of a vacant residence on Patterson Road.
On March 10, 2021 at 1430 hrs, officers with the Kinston Police Department responded to UNC Lenoir in regards to a person who had been shot. Upon arrival officers located a 26 year old male suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper leg.
A vehicle chase through multiple jurisdictions led to a manhunt in Lenoir County, near the Felix Harvey Parkway, Monday night. The wooded area in question is near Felix Harvey Parkway, Crestview Subdivision and Hickory Hills Road.

The wanted suspect is Kenneth Earl Piper of Wilson. He is a white male, 29 years old, 6 feet tall, 160 pounds with brown dreadlocks and tattoos on his face above his eyebrows.
On Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at 6:14 p.m., Officers from the Kinston Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of E. Lenoir Ave. and N. East St. EMS and Kinston Department of Fire & Rescue also responded to assist with life saving measures.
The Kinston Police Department is aware of various social media posts made in recent days concerning the dog who is tethered at a residence along Atlantic Avenue in Kinston. As many are keenly aware, this is an issue that has been ongoing for several years. Kinston's Animal Control Officer, as well as others from our community, have worked with the owner during that time period to ensure that the dog is cared for as required by the North Carolina General Statutes and the Code of Ordinances of the City of Kinston.
One man is wanted for murder following a shooting early Sunday morning on Pauls Path Road in La Grange. Warrants have been issued for the arrest of 34-year old Rashawn Pridgen in connection with the incident.
On January 29, 2021, James Aaron Mitchell of 507 Pineview Avenue in Pink Hill, North Carolina was arrested as a result of a narcotics investigation conducted by the Lenoir County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit.
In January 2020, the Lenoir County Sheriff's Office began an investigation into the reported sexual assault of a juvenile. Per our statutes and policies, as a sexual assault case and one that involves a juvenile, no details of the case will be released.
On 01/10/2021 Officers with the Kinston Police Department responded to Wal-Mart located at 4101 W. Vernon Ave in regards to a disturbance. The pictures attached are of a person of interest from the altercation.
The Lenoir County Sheriffs Office is investigating a shooting incident that occurred on Monday night at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Fred Everett Road in Kinston. Sheriff Ronnie Ingram states, “We do not believe there is any public threat. Witnesses have told us the suspect(s) fled in a vehicle from the scene after the shooting.” In regards to this investigation, we would ask the residents in this immediate area that may have camera footage of Fred Everett Road or the surrounding area to notify the Sheriff’s Office to aid in the identification of any suspect vehicles. It is believed that the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle traveling towards Alton Phillips Road on Fred Everett Road from Hwy 258.
The Kinston Police Department is seeking information in regards to an Indecent Exposure that occurred on December 24th, 2020 at approximately 1:30 p.m. at the Wash N Fold located at 1318 N Queen St.
The Kinston Police Department is searching for Mrs. Koutrina Brown who was reported missing on 01/04/2021 and last seen on 12/31/2020. Mrs. Brown is known to frequent the Doctors Drive area and the Plaza.
On morning of January 4, 2021, officers with the Kinston Police Department responded to a robbery that took place at The First Flight Federal Credit Union located at 2405 North Herritage Street, Kinston.
Two men have been arrested for the armed robbery of a Lenoir County business on Sunday. 8:55 a.m., on Sunday, Jan. 3, the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office responded to an armed robbery at the Blue Door Sweepstakes, 3145 Hwy. 258 North, in Kinston. LCSO deputies arrived and found the business had been robbed by subjects with firearms; those subjects had departed the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement.
