According to Maj. Ryan Dawson from Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office, “there was an accidental discharge of a firearm at the business (overnight). The single discharged bullet struck two people. There is no danger to the public as this was not a robbery or believed to be intentional by any purpose. The two victims were transported by EMS.“
According to a press release by the Kinston Police Department, on Monday, February 03, 2020 at 10:52 am, a Kinston Police Department officer on patrol was flagged down by a passerby at the intersection of Bright and East Streets. On the sidewalk was a 24-year-old female, later identified as Khloe McNeal from Kinston, who was suffering from severe burns to her upper body.

According to a press release from the Kinston Police Department, on Monday, February 03, 2020 at 7:08 p.m., officers of the Kinston Police Department arrested 41-year-old Venice Taylor of Jacksonville, NC in connection with this case.
According to press releases from the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office, on January 30, 2020, Andre Donte Dawson of La Grange and James Lamonte Graham of La Grange were arrested on state drug charges, pursuant to a narcotics investigation conducted by the Lenoir County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit.
On January 22, 2019 Kinston Police took a report of a breaking and entering and larceny that involved the theft of an array of items including firearms in the area of Carolina Ave. With the assistance of the Lenoir County Sherriff’s Office arrests were made on Jamie Urbanski, age 42 of Kinston and Michael Pike, age 35 of La Grange, for their involvement in the crimes.
According to a press release by the Lenoir County Sheriff's office on January 14, 2020, the Lenoir County Sheriff's Office responded to a vehicle accident on Lightwood Knot Road in Lenoir County.
According to a press release from the Kinston Police Department, on 01/14/2020 at 9:31 p.m., Kinston Police responded to the 7 Bldg. Carver Courts, Kinston, NC in reference to a stabbing. Officers arrived on scene and found a male subject, age 29 of Kinston, with a fatal stab wound to the chest. The suspect, identified as Anthony Antwon Brooks Jr., age 26 of Kinston, NC, was taken into custody moments after this incident occurred near the crime scene.
Michael Whaley turned himself in on 1/19/2020 and warrants were served. He was placed in the Lenoir County Jail with a $2,500 secure bond. Jamie Dula turned herself in on 1/14/2020 and warrants were served. She was placed in the Lenoir County Jail with a $2,500 secure bond.
According to a press release from the Jones County Sheriff’s Office, “since Hurricane Florence devastated Jones County in 2018, Sheriff Danny Heath has been doing a bit of ‘clean up’ of his own. As warmer temperatures moved into the area in the early months of 2019, Sheriff Heath announced operation ‘The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.’”
According to a press release from the Goldsboro Police Department, on Dec. 11, 2019, the Goldsboro Police Department took a report of a statutory sex offense involving a child under the age of 15. On Jan. 3 at 2:40 p.m., Blow was arrested by the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office in the 1600 block of NC 55 E in Kinston.
According to a press release from the Kinston Police Department, on Sunday, January 5, 2020 Kinston Police with the assistance of the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Department located and arrested Matthew Alex Harrell, age 18 of La Grange, NC for his involvement in a shooting that occurred near the 300 Block of Richard Green Ct., Kinston, NC back in November 2019.
Krisotpher Tyson was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of firearm by felon, possession of schedule II controlled substance, identify theft, resisting public officer and child support order for arrest. He was confined in the Lenoir County Sheriff's Detention Center under an $80,000 secured bond and a $1,908 cash child support purge.
Jasmine Ebbert was arrested and charged with resisting public officer and was confined in the Lenoir County Sheriff's Detention Center under a $1,000 secured bond.
On January 2, 2020, detectives with the Lenoir County Sheriff's Office arrested Marcus Jorrod Robinson of La Grange pursuant to a narcotics investigation. During the arrest of Robinson, he was found in possession of distribution amounts of crack cocaine, marijuana and a stolen handgun.
According to a press release from United States Attorney Robert J. Higdon, Jr., he announced that in federal court, before Chief United States District Judge Terrence W. Boyle, twelve men and one woman were sentenced for their roles in selling heroin, cocaine, crack cocaine, and guns to undercover agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (“ATF”) in 2018.

UPDATE: Missing person located
Original story: On November 30, 2019, the Lenoir County Sheriff's Office was notified of a missing person who was last seen at approximately 11:00 a.m. on that same date. Yazmin Concepcion Villanueva-Guzman, was last seen at her home in Pink Hill, NC.
According to a press release from the Kinston Police Department, on Dec. 1 shortly after 5 PM, members of the Kinston Police Department responded to the report of a subject that had been shot near 110 W. Vernon Avenue, Kinston N.C.
The Kinston Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in helping to identify the subject seen in the a photo.
Warrants are on file for Felony Flee to Elude Arrest on 22 year old, Nigel D. Wiggins Jr. of Kinston.
At approximately 8:03 p.m. officers received information that a subject was at the Kinston Police Department who had been shot.
The Sheriff's Office is offering a $500 reward for information leading to an arrest for attempted murder and first-degree burglary.
