Today I want to write about the ongoing controversy concerning our recent Presidential election. Folks, some have attempted to make this a partisan issue, but that is not what it's all about. Representatives of BOTH major parties are now coming forward in the cause of justice and for the preservation of our Republic, to tell what they saw on Election Night and to bring to light supposed irregularities that have occurred.
If the Republican Party were only the party of white men, it would never win an election. When discussing electoral matters, we all tend to use the political equivalent of shorthand. It’s a handy tool. We use it to identify the tipping point that determines electoral outcomes — the bellwether county, the interest group with shifting allegiances, the decisive issue that turned the tide.
The North Carolina Federation of Republican Men (NCFRM) stands behind President Trump in holding the individual States accountable for a fair and just election. Voter integrity should be the top priority without compromise.
Politicians are notorious for making wild claims or exaggerating what they have done on behalf of those who elected them. President Trump is a master of puffery and routinely makes false or misleading statements about his political accomplishments. But one claim has gotten the attention of Black voters, a loyal Democratic voting bloc; some Black voters are questioning the president's assertion that he has "done more for the Black community than any other president."
A poll conducted Oct. 15-18 by the ECU Center for Survey Research shows a three-point lead (50% to 47%) for Democrat Joe Biden over Republican Donald Trump among likely voters in North Carolina. The Senate race between Democrat Cal Cunningham and Republican Thom Tillis remains a tossup with Cunningham holding a 48-47% lead, while Democrat Roy Cooper leads Republican challenger Dan Forest, 53% to 44%.
Recently, I was in a friend’s office concerning a matter unrelated to politics, but we ended up discussing the upcoming presidential election. His first comment was in a forceful tone: "We've left God out! We've got to get back with being a Godly society!" With that as a starter, let me identify our two basic problems as I see it:
