The Greene County Board of Commissioners convened its regular monthly meeting on Monday, March 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Greene County Operations Center in Snow Hill. Commissioners approved the county’s participation in a statewide commercial property financing program, adopted policies required for state water infrastructure funding, and unanimously backed a last-minute resolution seeking federal funding for a new animal shelter.
The Greene County Board of Commissioners will meet at 10 a.m. Monday, March 2, at the Greene County Operations Center in the commissioners’ meeting room at 312 S.E. Second St. in Snow Hill.
The Greene County Board of Commissioners met on Monday, April 7, at 10:00 a.m. in the commissioners’ chambers inside the Greene County Operations Center.
Snow Hill - During their meeting on June 19, the Greene County Board of Commissioners voted 4-1 to censure Commissioner Burress. Commissioner Jones made the motion to add the censure resolution, which was seconded by Commissioner Shackelford. The motion passed with a 4-1 vote, with Burress being the sole dissenting vote.
At the Greene County Commissioner’s meeting, an interim Sheriff was not selected. As Sheriff Lemmie Smith will still be serving Greene County until February 28, 2022, an interim sheriff cannot be chosen until the March 7, 2022 Greene County Commissioners meeting. From March 1-7, 2022, the chief deputy will be the acting sheriff.
Monthly fees for membership and the exercise room, and daily rates for the batting cages prompted numerous questions and responses from the commissioners.
