Obituary: Robert (Bobby) Ray Dail

Robert (Bobby) Ray Dail, Jr., 86, of Deep Run passed away at home in the afternoon hours of Saturday, August 15, 2026. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 23, 2026 at Garner Funeral Home with Pastor Jimmy Sowers officiating. Visitation will follow the funeral service.

Global TransPark Fuel Farm nears completion

By the end of 2024, major progress had been made on the new fuel farm at the North Carolina Global TransPark. Contractors completed tank coatings, pipe fabrication, and line connections. With tank crews demobilized, final grading, concrete, and asphalt work are underway. The project is expected to wrap up in early 2025.

In major investment, officials break ground for military aircraft maintenance facility at N.C. Global TransPark

State, federal and local officials broke ground Tuesday on a North Carolina Global TransPark complex that the U.S. Navy will use to maintain and repair Navy and Marine Corps aircraft.

Officials said the U.S. Navyโ€™s Fleet Readiness Center East, C-130 Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul complex will create more than 400 new jobs and generate $400 million in new investment for the region. The facility will expand the existing Fleet Readiness Center East, which is at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point in Havelock and is the stateโ€™s largest employer east of Interstate 95.

According to multiple news outlets, Boeing and Spirit AeroSystems are in talks for a potential acquisition that could have significant implications for Kinston's aerospace industry. Boeing and Airbus have made substantial progress in dividing Spirit AeroSystems' programs, a critical aspect of unblocking the deal. Airbus is expected to acquire Spirit's plants in Kinston.

Expansion project to create additional 70 jobs in Greene County

The NC Rural Infrastructure Authority announced today that H&T Trucking, Inc., a company that primarily transports bulk feed and live animals, will receive a grant from the stateโ€™s Building Reuse Program. Earlier today, the NC Rural Infrastructure Authority approved Greene Countyโ€™s request for $175,000 in funds to support the building reuse of H&T Trucking, Inc.

North Carolina Global TransPark establishes the Economic Development Region

The North Carolina Global TransPark, county commissioners from three counties, civic leaders and business leaders met at Lenoir Community College Aerospace and Advanced Manufacturing Center Tuesday to announce a partnership to include Greene, Lenoir, and Wayne counties. The partnership is designed to create a regional approach to economic development in the hopes to attract and retain businesses in eastern North Carolina.
