LCC, Campbell University Sign Assured Admission Agreement
Lenoir Community College and Campbell University have strengthened their partnership with a new agreement that provides eligible LCC graduates an assured pathway to continue their education at Campbell University.
LCC President Dr. Rusty Hunt and Campbell University President Dr. William M. Downs signed the Assured Admission Agreement September 1 during a ceremony at Campbell’s campus in Buies Creek.
Through the agreement, LCC students who earn an Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree and maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher will be assured admission to Campbell University. The program is designed to provide students with a clear pathway from LCC to Campbell while making the transfer process as seamless as possible.
“Partnerships like this expand what is possible for our students,” said Hunt. “Students can begin their education close to home at LCC, earn their associate degree, and then have a clear pathway to continue at Campbell. It’s another way we can make a four-year degree more accessible and attainable for the students and families we serve.”
In addition to providing an assured path to admission, the partnership will connect participating LCC students with information about Campbell’s academic programs and access to faculty and staff who can help facilitate their transition. Students will also receive admissions, financial aid, and orientation communications early in the transfer process.
Downs, who visited LCC earlier this year, said he was impressed by the College and welcomed the opportunity to strengthen the relationship between the two institutions.
“I appreciated the hospitality, and we wanted to reciprocate that and build a vibrant partnership with you,” Downs said during the signing. “It’s 81 miles from our campus to yours, and hopefully this shrinks that distance dramatically today.”
One recent LCC graduate is already making the transition from LCC to Campbell University. Taryn Barnett, a 2026 graduate of Lenoir Early College High School and LCC, was recently named one of Campbell’s five recipients of the full-ride J.A. Campbell Scholarship, the University’s most prestigious scholarship. Barnett earned two associate degrees from LCC while completing her high school diploma and received LCC’s 2026 Academic Excellence Award.
Prior to the signing ceremony, members of the LCC leadership team toured Campbell’s campus, including the chapel, convocation center, and student union, as well as the health sciences campus following the signing.
The new agreement reflects both institutions’ shared commitment to strengthening educational opportunities and creating pathways that help students successfully continue their education and prepare for their futures.
