Patricia Irene Igo, 82, of Kinston, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2026, in Dover, North Carolina.
A Mass of Celebration will be held on Thursday, July 9th, 2026, 2PM, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Kinston, NC. The family will receive friends at Edwards Funeral Home prior to the service from 11 AM to 12 PM. Burial will follow on Friday, July 10th, 2026, 11 AM, at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Clayton, NC.
Patricia (Pat) was born on July 11, 1943, in Los Angles, California. She grew in up in the San Fernando Valley and graduated from Bell Garden High School in 1950. In her teen years she enjoyed spending time with her friends on Balboa Island in Orange County, California and attending summer beach parties, similar to those seen in movies starring Anette Funccello and Frankie Avalon. She loved the beach and the salt air. On November 16, 1967, she married her late husband Jack Igo and together with his brother-in-law, they ran dairy in Huntington Beach California. In her professional life she worked for Customweave Carpet Company and then to J.L. Benson Co., another custom carpet company in Orange County, California. She worked in that industry for over 20 years. After the dairy farm closed, she and Jack built a life together in Fountain Valley, California and in 1977 they had a daughter, Kristine.
In 1998, they moved to Clayton, North Carolina to be closer to their daughter and son-in-law. Once there, Pat went to work for Highwood Properties, Inc. where she served for well over a decade as an administrative assistant to the Vice President and as a project accountant. In 2013 she retired and traveled back and forth to Iowa, and then Virgina to spend as much time as she could with her daughter and three granddaughters.
She was a kind soul who without hesitation would go out of her way to help anyone in need. Her greatest attribute was her friendliness and desire to make everyone she met her friend. She loved cats and cooking. She always prepared delicious meals from scratch and took great pride in feeding others. She enjoyed spending time in her garden surrounded by beautiful flowers and putting corn in her front yard in Clayton so she and Jack could sit in the front room and watch the deer graze out their front window. Her greatest joy in the world, however, came from her three granddaughters, Caroline, Katy and Charlotte, who called her Mimi and were the apple of her eye. She moved to Kinston in November 2019 to live with them after the passing of her husband.
Pat is survived by her daughter, Kristine Keenan and son-in-law, Sean P. Keenan, and their three daughters, Caroline Keenan, Katherine Keenan (Katy), and Charlotte Keenan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Igo (2019), her sister-in-law, Carol Kaufman (2019), and brother-in-law Anton Kaufman (2005).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made in Pat’s honor to the BrightFocus Foundation to help fund Alzheimer’s research. 22512 Gateway Center Dr, Clarksburg, MD 20871.
