Danny Rice Named 2026 Lighthouse Award Winner
Lenoir/Greene United Way hosted their “Fantastical Whimsical” event on Wednesday, July 15 at Kinston Country Club. The event celebrated the nonprofit organizations’ community partners, local donors, and their service to United Way.
In addition, the 6th annual “Lighthouse Award” was presented to a legacy donor for his stewardship and longtime support of United Way. The 2026 Lenoir/Greene United Way Lighthouse Award was awarded to Danny Rice. Mr. Rice has supported our United Way for decades as a dedicated community investment panel member, past chair and board member and community champion. Dr. Rusty Hunt, President of Lenoir Community College and the presenting sponsor of the Lighthouse Award shared this in his presentation: “Tonight, we honor a truly great man for his many years of service to our United Way. We are so grateful for the amazing human you are and it is our honor to acknowledge you with the Lighthouse Award.”
Remarks were also given by Lenoir/Greene United Way Board President, Dr. Brandy Harrell and Lenoir/Greene United Way Executive Director, Molly Taylor on the organizations’ celebration of 94 years of community investment.
