LCSO: Lenoir County Woman Sentenced to Prison on Trafficking Charge

A Lenoir County woman has been sentenced to prison following a narcotics investigation conducted by the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit.

Rachel Nicole Smith, 32, of Deep Run, was arrested in November 2025 for Trafficking Opium/Heroin following an investigation into the distribution of fentanyl throughout Lenoir County. The investigation was conducted by the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit.

As a result of the investigation, Smith was charged with Trafficking Opium/Heroin. She subsequently pleaded guilty to the offense in Lenoir County Superior Court.

Following her guilty plea, Smith was sentenced to serve 70 to 93 months in the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction.

The Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to investigating and prosecuting individuals involved in the distribution of illegal narcotics and will continue working to keep dangerous drugs out of our communities.
