LaGrange Man Arrested Following Domestic Disturbance Involving Gunfire
On June 21, 2026, at approximately 5:35 a.m., deputies with the Lenoir County Sheriff's Office D Shift and A Shift responded to the 3600 block of Windy Ridge Road in LaGrange in reference to shots fired.
Upon arrival, deputies were advised that gunshots had been fired inside a residence. Deputies made contact with the occupants and, upon entering the home, observed extensive damage throughout the residence and injuries to a male subject who actively attempted to prevent law enforcement from entering. Deputies quickly detained the individual, who was identified as Roberto Torres Jr., 36, of LaGrange.
During the investigation, deputies learned that several residents had attended a party and continued consuming alcohol after returning home. Deputies also discovered that Torres and others had been shooting firearms throughout the night. Investigators determined that a verbal and physical altercation later occurred between Torres and his girlfriend.
While speaking with other parties on scene, deputies located five bullet holes in a kitchen wall and observed blood on the floor. Deputies conducted a protective sweep of the residence to ensure no one had been injured by gunfire. Witnesses advised that the blood resulted from Torres damaging property inside the home.
Through the investigation, deputies determined that Roberto Torres Jr. discharged a firearm from inside the residence during the altercation while three adults and a two-year-old child were inside. Deputies recovered evidence from the scene, including the firearm used in the incident.
Roberto Torres Jr. was arrested and charged with the following:
โข Four Counts of Felony Discharging a Firearm to Incite Fear
โข One Count of Misdemeanor Crime of Domestic Violence
โข One Count of Misdemeanor Child Abuse
Torres was placed in the Lenoir County Jail and is being held without bond under a 48-hour domestic violence hold.
