UNC Health Lenoir is seeking a full-time Stroke Program/Get With The Guidelines Coordinator in Kinston.

Position summary

The Stroke Program/Get With The Guidelines Onsite Coordinator is responsible for planning, directing, evaluating and improving the Primary Stroke Program.

The coordinator also helps maintain Joint Commission Stroke Center Certification and ensures compliance with Get With The Guidelines criteria to support organizational benchmarking and best practices for patients.

About the role

This position is part of UNC Health Lenoir’s Certified Stroke Center and focuses on keeping stroke care timely, evidence-based and patient-centered.

The coordinator works with interdisciplinary teams, patients, families and community stakeholders to support best practices and improve outcomes across the stroke care continuum.

Key responsibilities

The Stroke Program Manager/Get With The Guidelines Onsite Coordinator will:

  • Plan, direct, evaluate and improve the Primary Stroke Program.

  • Help maintain Joint Commission Stroke Center Certification.

  • Ensure compliance with Get With The Guidelines criteria.

  • Support organizational benchmarking and best practices.

  • Partner with patients and families.

  • Work with employees, providers, community agencies and regulatory bodies.

  • Help meet patient needs.

  • Support compliance with regulatory standards.

  • Promote quality improvement in stroke care.

Qualifications

Education

  • Current licensure to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina.

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.

  • Equivalent clinical experience may be considered.

  • Master’s degree in nursing preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of five years of acute care nursing experience required.

  • Experience in critical care, emergency department or neurology preferred.

  • Leadership and communication skills required.

  • Ability to work successfully with interdisciplinary health care teams required.

  • Excellent computer skills required.

  • Prior experience with fundamental quality improvement tools preferred.

  • Prior experience in program management and evaluation preferred.

Licensure, registration and certification

  • Current BLS certification required.

  • NIHSS certification must be obtained within one year.
