Evelyn Dove Coleman: KickBall Event Promises Fun & Fitness
The Young Professionals of Lenoir County are sponsoring a KickBall Tournament on April 25, 2026 at Fairfield Park. It promises to be a lot of fun as well as an opportunity for networking. Teams are encouraged to register by emailing cwilson.servpro8820@gmail.com. Teams can include friends and coworkers, or teams could be comprised of business clients. I can see different firms competing against each other.
I used to enjoy activities such as kickball and running in 5-K races. Outdoor events are charged with excitement and camaraderie. They're good for maintaining physical fitness and for increasing endorphins, building more moments of the feel-good hormones.
In 2013, PathChoice Ministry was named the Kinston/Lenoir County Chamber of Commerce Minority Business of the Year. It's hard for me to believe that was more than a decade ago. But it was! Back then was when I was still able to rip and run as the old folks used to say. Then I fell and suffered a hip fracture. Injuries can change everything. We saw that play out recently when a young Freshman at UNC broke his thumb and could not help his team.
One of PathChoice Ministry's books is about safety. It is so much better to be safe than to be sorry. Sorry I didn't warm up. Sorry I didn't take my time. Sorry I didn't look where I was going. So, practice safety this season and get outside to enjoy the beautiful weather and fresh air. The Chamber of Commerce website lists a lot of activity choices, including golf and gardening.
