Fentanyl Investigation Leads to Arrest
On April 29, 2026, at approximately 1:32 p.m., the Kinston Police Department’s VCAT Unit concluded an investigation into the possession and sale of fentanyl involving 33-year-old Dashawn Dail.
Detectives obtained a search warrant for a residence in Carver Courts Apartments. With the assistance of the KPD SWAT Team, the warrant was executed. During the search, Dail was located inside the residence attempting to destroy evidence. He refused to comply with officers’ commands but was ultimately taken into custody.
As a result of the investigation, Dail has been charged with the following:
• Sell/Deliver Fentanyl
• Possession With Intent to Sell/Deliver Cocaine
• Possession With Intent to Sell/Deliver Marijuana
• Felony Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer
• Misdemeanor Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer
• Resist, Obstruct, and Delay
• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
At the time of this release, Dail remains in custody at the Lenoir County Jail.
