Greene County commissioners to consider adopting updated transportation plan
Greene County commissioners are scheduled Monday to consider adopting an updated Comprehensive Transportation Plan that would guide transportation development in the county for the next 10 years.
A subcommittee of the county’s Transportation Committee worked with the North Carolina Department of Transportation and the Eastern Carolina Rural Planning Organization on the update. County staff described the plan as an official state document that would remain on file for 10 years until a new plan is prepared.
Greene County, its municipalities, the Eastern Carolina Rural Planning Organization and NCDOT worked together to develop the plan. County officials said transportation planning is intended to address present and anticipated travel demand and to support the orderly growth and development of the area.
If adopted, the resolution would approve the Greene County Comprehensive Transportation Plan dated March 16, 2026, as a guide for development of the county’s transportation system and recommend it to NCDOT for subsequent adoption.
County staff have recommended approval of the plan as presented.
