Lenoir County commissioners approve $15,000 for America 250 committee
The Lenoir County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously Monday to approve a $15,000 reimbursement-based contribution for the local America 250 committee, backing promotional efforts tied to the nation’s 250th anniversary. Commissioners Lovick and King were absent.
The funding was approved as presented, with no amendments during the meeting, according to Lenoir County Public Information Officer Amedith Stroud.
Commissioner June Cummings, who presented the item, said the money would support promotional activities and equipment, including banners and signage around the county, commemorating the anniversary and Lenoir County’s role in the nation’s founding, Stroud said.
The contribution will be provided on a reimbursement basis rather than as an upfront payment.
Stroud said there were no additional commissioner comments or requests for more detail before the vote.
The action gives the local America 250 committee county funding support as planning continues for events and materials connected to the anniversary observance.
