Michael Lee Bridwell, of Emerald Isle, North Carolina, passed away on March 11, 2026, at the age of 66.
Born on August 30, 1959, in Carteret County, North Carolina, Michael was the son of the late R.W. Bridwell and Lora Bridwell. He grew up and lived most of life in Lenoir County before becoming a resident of the Crystal Coast area and took great pride in the life he built there.
Mike was the owner and operator of Mike Bridwell Construction, where he earned a reputation as one of the hardest workers around. He took great pride in his work and was known by many as someone who could outwork anyone. His dedication, craftsmanship, and strong work ethic left a lasting mark on the community and on everyone who had the opportunity to work with him.
Mike, known by many as “Snake” truly loved life and lived it to the fullest. Living at the beach brought him great joy, and he treasured time spent with family and friends. He especially enjoyed weekends spent in Atlantic City making memories and sharing laughs with those he loved. Mike was also a big fan of Kentucky basketball and loved watching and cheering on the Wildcats. Above all else, Mike adored his dogs, Finley and Emmie, who brought him endless happiness and companionship.
He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Bethany Bridwell; his mother, Lora Bridwell; his daughter, Ashlyn Pridgen and her husband Daniel of La Grange, North Carolina; his grandchildren, Christian Quick and his wife Maddy of Seattle, Washington, Blayden Pridgen, and Hazlee Pridgen; and his sister, Donna Bridwell. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his father, R.W. Bridwell, and his brother, Danny Ray Bridwell.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, March 22 at 3:00 PM at Emerald Isle Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ECU Health Cancer Center or your local SPCA in Michael’s memory.
