Obituary: Michael Keith Farmer

Beloved husband, father, Papa, son, and friend, Michael Keith Farmer, 60, of Moncure, NC, left this earthly realm for heaven on Monday, June 23, 2025. Born in Kinston, NC, on August 8, 1964, he was a loving son to his parents, Jesse Ray Farmer, and Lillian Anne (Elmore) Farmer.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Ray Farmer, from whom he inherited his sense of humor, and by his best bud and son-in-law, Connor Todd, whom he loved as a son.

Michael was a devoted husband, loving father, adoring Papa, and faithful follower of Christ. He is survived by his cherished wife and soulmate of 41 years, Betsy Kearney Farmer, whom he endearingly answered her phone calls, “Hey love of my life.” Living a life full of gratitude, he admired his family as his greatest legacy. He is survived by his children: Megan Carmona, Caitlin Todd, Hannah Privette (Joseph), and Jesse Farmer. Michael is an adored Papa to Aubrey and Adeline Carmona, Faith and Lillian Todd, and Gabriel, Theo, and Jasper Privette. He dearly loved and appreciated his children and son-in-law Joseph whom he loved as a son. His brother Ray Farmer (Pam) was an ever-present friend. Brother-in-law Joe Kearney as well as in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins were close to his heart.

Mike graduated from Bethel Christian Academy where he enjoyed sports and fun times with his cherished friends. At Lenoir Community College he earned an Industrial Engineering degree and worked a lifetime in this field. Mike loved Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and reflected Him to those he met and knew. He greatly valued worship and his church friends. Mike loved family time, fishing, boating, grilling, music, and had a constant stream of dad jokes and one-liners that kept everyone laughing. His legacy of strength, love, faith, and compassion was ever-present to those who knew him. It is well with his soul.

A memorial service to honor his life will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2025, 11:00 a.m. at Donaldson’s Funeral Home in Pittsboro, NC. A private burial will follow.
