Lenoir County early voting tops 500 ballots through Monday

Early voting turnout in Lenoir County climbed to 524 ballots cast through Monday, Feb. 16, according to totals provided by the Lenoir County Board of Elections.

After three days of voting and a pause Sunday, voters returned in higher numbers Monday, with 172 ballots cast across the county’s three early voting sites.

Early voting for the March 2026 primary began Thursday, Feb. 12, and will run through 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28. Election Day is Tuesday, March 3.

Voters are required to show a valid photo ID when voting in person, including during early voting. Voters who do not have an accepted ID can obtain a free voter photo ID from their county board of elections through the end of the early voting period.

Contested Lenoir County races with a primary include:

  • District attorney District 09 (Republican): Jeff Cannon, Mike Muskus

  • Lenoir County Board of Commissioners District 02 (Republican): BJ Murphy, Stephen LaRoque

  • Lenoir County Board of Education District 01 (Republican): Billy Davis, Michelle Davis
