South Lenoir FFA celebrates national achievements at 99th National FFA Convention
DEEP RUN, N.C. – Members of the South Lenoir FFA Chapter traveled to Indianapolis, Indiana, October 20–24, 2026, to attend the 99th National FFA Convention & Expo. Throughout the week, members had the opportunity to represent their chapter, compete on the national level, and celebrate outstanding achievements.
One of the biggest highlights of the convention was seeing two South Lenoir FFA members receive national recognition for their hard work and dedication.
On Wednesday, October 21, Valerie Valdivia Correa represented South Lenoir FFA in the National Spanish FFA Creed Speaking competition, where she placed among the top 12 competitors in the nation. This outstanding accomplishment reflects her dedication, preparation, and commitment to representing her chapter at the national level.
On Thursday, October 22, Joshua Stroud was recognized for placing 9th in the nation with his Agriscience Fair project. His achievement highlights the importance of agricultural research and the opportunities FFA provides for students to explore their interests in science and agriculture.
"Attending the National FFA Convention is an experience that our members will never forget. Seeing two of our own members recognized on the national level was something our entire chapter was extremely proud of. Opportunities like these remind us why FFA is so important and how much it can impact students," said Alanna Thomas, 2026–2027 South Lenoir FFA President.
The National FFA Convention brings together FFA members from across the nation to celebrate agricultural education, leadership, and personal growth. For South Lenoir FFA, this year's convention was an opportunity to showcase the dedication and accomplishments of its members on a national stage.
The South Lenoir FFA Chapter is extremely proud of Valerie Valdivia Correa and Joshua Stroud for their outstanding accomplishments and the hard work they have put into preparing for their competitions.
The chapter would also like to thank its advisors, alumni, sponsors, and community members for their continued support. Their generosity and encouragement help make opportunities like competing at the National FFA Convention possible.
South Lenoir FFA looks forward to continuing to provide students with opportunities to grow as leaders, explore careers in agriculture, and represent their community with pride.
