KPD: Five Located in West Washington Avenue Drug Raid, Four Charged

On January 29, 2026, at approximately 6:43 p.m., members of the Kinston Police Department’s Violent Crime Action Team (VCAT) conducted an investigation into suspected criminal activity following concerns reported by community members.

As a result of the investigation, officers conducted a traffic stop involving 28-year-old Ran'dias Jacobs of Raleigh, North Carolina. During the stop, Jacobs was found to be in possession of approximately 115 grams of marijuana. Jacobs was taken into custody and charged with the following:

- Motor Vehicle Violations

- Possession With Intent to Sell and Deliver (PWISD) Marijuana

- Felony Possession of Marijuana

- Felony Maintaining a Vehicle for Controlled Substances

Following the arrest, VCAT detectives obtained a search warrant for a residence located on the 1100 block of West Washington Avenue. With assistance from the KPD SWAT Team, the search warrant was executed.

During the search, five individuals were located inside the residence and identified as:

27-year-old Nicholas Edwards

27-year-old Jadkis Fleming

27-year-old Ricky Roach

25-year-old Zi’Neir Bryant

A 17-year-old male juvenile

The search of the residence resulted in the seizure of:

More than 315 grams of marijuana, 15 grams of cocaine, oxycodone pills, drug paraphernalia, two handguns, and over $3,000 in U.S. currency

Edwards, Fleming, Roach, and Bryant were each charged with the following:

- Possession With Intent to Sell and Deliver (PWISD) Cocaine

- Felony Maintaining a Dwelling for Controlled Substances

- PWISD Oxycodone

- Felony Conspiracy

- PWISD Marijuana

- Felony Possession of Marijuana

- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

In addition, Nicholas Edwards was charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

The juvenile was released to a legal guardian. Detectives are working in coordination with Juvenile Justice and are pursuing appropriate juvenile petitions.
