Nancy Carol Crawford Hannah Smith

Mrs. Carol Crawford Smith of Magnolia Cottage, Dover, North Carolina, passed away on January 23rd, 2026. She was the older daughter of the late William Samuel Crawford and Mildred Price Crawford of Iron Duff, Haywood County, North Carolina. Mrs. Smith spent much of her life in Haywood County (Waynesville) and later in Asheville, before relocating to Kinston in 2021.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her son, Samuel Del Hannah and spouse, John Carlton Hardy of Kinston, and a sister, Teresa Crawford Fugate of Strawberry Plains, Tennessee.
No formal service is planned at this time. Mrs. Smith’s ashes will be interred at a graveside service in Iron Duff at a later date.
Del is grateful for the care that his mother received at Magnolia Cottage and will be eternally thankful for the friendships made there, including the owner/director, April Davidson; and caregivers, Daphne Barfield, Erica Daniels, and many others. Also, 3HC Home Health and Hospice Care was a great comfort for the last two weeks of her life.
