Obituary: Alan Wallace
Alan Wallace, 73, of Kinston, NC, passed away on January 20, 2026.
A memorial service will be conducted Thursday, Jan. 29, at 2pm in the Edwards Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Alan was a native of Kinston and grew up with his sister and brother whom he loved dearly. He had a passion for music and a love for his family. His passion of music led to the meeting of his loving wife of 49 years, Phyllis, until her death. Alan had many friends whom he met along the way while playing in bands such as the Avengers, Misty Blues, Summer Breeze, the Kinston Community Band, the Terry Batson Band, and Big Al and the Coconuts. He took a pause from music as he dedicated his time to his family of two sons and a daughter. He coached their baseball and softball teams at times, while cheering from the stands other times. He attended concerts, dance recitals, and graduations all while working to support his family and being a supportive husband.
As his children grew, he found time for his music again. Alan eventually met a new love, Donna, who became his special someone and eventually, his fiancée. Later in life, he was met with many health complications from cancer and Parkinson's disease. He always met those challenges with strength and determination. He had several close friends who were there to provide prayers and encouragement. The medical teams and staff who cared for him always proceeded with a tender hand and warm hearts. He will greatly be missed in this world but celebrated in the next.
Alan is survived by his fiancée, Donna Skipper; sons, Jonathan (Susann) and Brandon (Samantha); daughter, Ashley; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Rick Wallace; and sister, Susan Gaskins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Wallace; and parents, Dock and Mae Wallace.
In lieu of flowers, donations to your local Parkinson's support group or the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research would be appreciated.
