Marie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed crafting, making flower arrangements, shopping, attending church, and spending time with friends and family. Wherever Marie was, joy followed. Her smile was contagious, and her sense of humor brought endless laughter to those around her.
Marie’s favorite title was “Mimi.” Her grandchildren were the apple of her eye, and she spoiled them at every opportunity. She treasured her family and friendships. She loved reminiscing about past experiences while making new memories to last a lifetime. Some of her closest companions were her furbabies, who brought her great comfort and joy.
Marie was truly a “mom to many.” She welcomed everyone into her home with open arms and considered her children’s friends as her own. Marie simply loved children, and her nurturing spirit touched countless lives.
There are many special individuals who played a role in Marie’s care. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to 3HC, CarolinaEast Medical Center and Oncology, and the UNC Chapel Hill Transplant Center for their excellent care throughout her journey. Most of all, we thank Traci Pollock, Stephanie Davis, and Nicole Plowman for the compassionate care they provided during her final hours. We could not have asked for a more loving and comforting team to help her enter heaven’s gates.
While we will deeply miss Marie here on Earth, we find peace knowing she is no longer in pain and has been joyfully reunited in heaven with her Heavenly Father, her precious daughter, and many loved ones she had longed to see again.
