Employment Type: Part-time, Year-Round
Schedule: Monday–Friday; 1 Sunday per month (special Sundays, as needed)
About Us:
His Kids Childcare is a financially self-supporting outreach ministry of Sharon United Methodist Church.
Our goal is to offer quality, faith-based childcare at an affordable cost for children of various ages. The program provides experiences designed to help elementary-aged children develop physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, and spiritually. This goal is achieved by providing age-appropriate activities guided by experienced, caring staff. Our childcare facility offers a Monday through Friday, Elementary Age After School Program and Summer Camp.
Position Summary:
The Creative Director will oversee all aspects of our After School and Summer Programs, including curriculum planning, staff supervision, student engagement, billing, tuition, and communication with families. The Director will also be responsible for fulfilling the vision of SUMC for the childcare program as an operating outreach ministry.
This role requires a dynamic leader who can balance administrative duties with relationship building and hands-on program involvement with children.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop, implement, and evaluate creative, age-appropriate programming for both after-school and summer sessions
• Hire, train, supervise, and support program staff and volunteers
• Ensure compliance with the ministry vision of SUMC, child safety protocols, and the UMC Safer Sanctuaries Policy
• Create and manage program budgets in coordination with the His Kids Board
• Maintain clear, timely communication with families, school partners, and His Kids Board members
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful environment for students and staff
• Monitor student behavior and provide support for social and emotional development
• Plan, implement, and coordinate enrichment activities and special events. Activities should be implemented daily for students
• Share activities and events with the SUMC congregation and regularly maintain the social media outlet(s) chosen by the His Kids Board
• Collaborate with church leadership and local organizations to expand program offerings and reach out to families in the community, fostering connections and building partnerships that support the mission of the program.
• Participate in special services of SUMC and attend Sunday services (at least) one Sunday per month.
Qualifications:
• Strong and visible commitment to the Christian faith, willingness to lead a faith-based curriculum and support of the mission of SUMC
• Bachelor’s degree or associate’s degree in Education, Child Development, Recreation, or related field is preferred, or equivalent work experience.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Calm, kind, and patient demeanor with children and adults from diverse backgrounds and learning styles
• Understand and maintain a budget and operate within those guidelines
• Ability to be flexible and manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Familiarity with state childcare regulations (preferred)
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Criminal Background Check required.
• NC Driver’s License and clean driving record.
• *DOT Medical Release to operate vehicles
Compensation:
Competitive salary based on experience.
