LaGrange man arrested after KPD traffic stop leads to meth discovery

On August 15, 2025, at approximately 1:35 a.m., Kinston Police Department D-Squad officers conducted a traffic stop on Vernon Avenue with 49-year-old Eric Pettry of LaGrange. During the stop, K9 Kilo performed an open-air sniff around the vehicle and alerted to the presence of narcotics. A subsequent search revealed drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine. Pettry was processed and released on bond for Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
