Obituary: Wallace “Mike” Michael Jones

Wallace “Mike” Michael Jones, 67, of Kinston went home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 11, 2025. Born on March 13,1958, Mike was the cherished son of Wallace and Ella Marie Jones, who preceded him in death.

A lifelong resident of Kinston, Mike graduated from South Lenoir High School in the class of 1976. He served as Sales Manager at CDS Networks and Services for 24 years. He was loved by his clients as well as by staff. A devout Christian, Mike’s faith was unshakeable and served as a steady anchor for himself and those who were blessed to know him.

Mike was the kind of man who always put others before himself. He loved his family and friends deeply, and his generosity, warmth, and humor made everyone feel welcome in his presence. He had a deep love of travel, enjoying many adventures throughout North America and Europe. Mike also had a passion for race cars, sports, and 70’s music, and could often be found enjoying his favorite show, “MASH”. A talented cook, especially known for his legendary dough burgers, pot roast & chicken salad, Mike found joy in sharing meals and laughter with those he loved.

He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Kelly Bowen Jones, his 3 sons, Michael (Rachel) of Suffolk, VA, Steven of Cary, and Ryan of Winterville; two grandchildren; his sister Barbara Jones “BJ” of Kinston; several special cousins, nieces & nephews, and his beloved canine companion, “Baxter”.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 800 Rountree Street, Kinston, NC. A reception will follow in Moseley Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Service League of Greenville Hospice House, 920 Wellness Drive, Greenville, NC, St Mary’s Episcopal Church, (Priest Discretionary Fund) 800 Rountree Street, Kinston, NC 28501, & Lenoir County SPCA, 3200 US-258 North, Kinston, NC 28504.

Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in knowing that Mike’s life was a testimony of love, faith, and grace. His gentle spirit, kindness, and the memories he created will remain with us always.
