UNC Health Lenoir’s Dr. Joel Rose honored with Cayman Connection Making Waves Award for health excellence
UNC Health Lenoir proudly announces that Dr. Joel Rose, General and Bariatric Surgeon at UNC Health Lenoir and Executive Medical Director of UNC Physicians Network, has been honored with Special Recognition in the Health Category at the 2025 Cayman Connection Making Waves Awards, a prestigious program celebrating outstanding achievements by Caymanians living overseas.
Now in its fourth year, the Making Waves Awards, presented by Cayman Connection, recognize Caymanians abroad who have made significant contributions and excelled in their respective fields on a regional or global level. Dr. Rose was selected for his exemplary work in surgery and healthcare delivery, and for embodying the spirit of “Caymankind” through his continued commitment to excellence, compassion, and service.
Dr. Rose, a valued member of the UNC Health Lenoir team, is known for his expertise in general surgery and his compassionate care for patients throughout eastern North Carolina. His recognition highlights not only his clinical excellence but also his role as an ambassador of the Cayman Islands abroad, promoting community values and professional integrity.
“We are incredibly proud of Dr. Rose and the international recognition he has received,” said Dr. Crystal Hayden, President and CEO of UNC Health Lenoir. “His dedication to our patients and his deep connection to his Caymanian heritage continue to inspire us all.”
The Making Waves Awards ceremony was held in Grand Cayman on July 31, 2025, with honorees receiving commemorative trophies and access to professional development opportunities throughout the year.
