Kinston police arrest man after foot chase, recover firearm
On August 12, 2025, Kinston Police Department Detectives were conducting consensual encounters as part of ongoing criminal investigations. While in the area of Holly Lane, detectives observed two males who appeared to be attempting to conceal items in their waistbands.
When detectives attempted to make contact, both subjects fled on foot. Detectives apprehended 19-year-old Alexander Sutton, leading to the recovery of a firearm he had discarded during the pursuit. Sutton was arrested and charged with:
-Carrying a Concealed Gun
-Resisting a Public Officer
Detectives are working to identify the second subject, and additional charges are anticipated.
