Kinston Police Department provide updates on shooting investigation

-Case Update-

Kinston Police Department Detectives have continued their investigation into this incident. Through further follow-up, detectives obtained warrants for 20-year-old Erion Strong, of Kinston, on the following charges:

-4 counts of Attempted Murder

-Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury (AWDWIKISI)

-3 counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill (AWDWIK)

-Discharging a Firearm to Incite Fear

-8 counts of Felony Conspiracy

-Discharging a Firearm within City Limits

-Going Armed to the Terror of the People

At approximately 2:00 a.m. this morning, Strong was taken into custody at his residence. He was transported to the Lenoir County Jail, where he is being held without bond due to being on pre-trial release at the time of this offense.

Update: Following an extensive investigation, a Kinston Police Department detective worked through the night and identified 18-year-old Shyawnah Harris of Kinston as a suspect in the shooting of a 12-year-old on Dixon Street.

Detectives obtained warrants for Harris on charges of Attempted Murder and Felony Conspiracy. Early this morning, Harris was taken into custody at her residence without incident and was transported to the Lenoir County Jail.

This investigation remains active. Additional details will be released as they become available.
