LCC’s Anastasia Cast Features Double the Twins, Double the Talent

By: Cailyn Kennedy

This summer, journey through time with Anastasia: The Musical as it takes center stage at Lenoir Community College’s Briley Auditorium. Based on the beloved animated film and the legendary mystery of the Romanov family, the show follows Anya, a young woman with no memory of her past, as she teams up with two schemers to discover her true identity. From the shadows of post-revolutionary Russia to the glitz of 1920s Paris, Anastasia is a sweeping adventure filled with breathtaking music, emotional discovery, and the enduring search for home.

The production, directed by LCC’s Jessica Cruz, will run July 11-13 and July 18-20 in the Briley Auditorium on the Turner Stage. As part of the Lenoir Community College Performing Arts Series, the show invites audiences of all ages to step into a world of romance, resilience, and royal intrigue. Tickets are available now at www.lenoircc.edu/lccfpa. Ticket prices are as follows: orchestra seating – $20.00, standard seating – $15.00, accessible seating – $15.00, and student standard seating (ages 4–17 or 18+ with student ID) – $10.00.

Leilani Deaver joins the featured ensemble this summer. This is her second show with LCCFPA, and Deaver has had a blast working with director Jessica Cruz and the entire cast. She’s looking forward to more performances in the future and sends a big thank-you to her family and friends for all the support.

Rachel Lemon returns to the LCC stage as part of the ensemble—and she’s loving every second of it. A junior at East Carolina University and proud Kinston native, Lemon has been active in theatre for 13 years. This is her fifth show with LCCFPA, and she’s especially excited to perform alongside her twin sister and some of her closest friends. She’s grateful to her family and friends for their constant encouragement.

Also performing in the ensemble is Rebekah Lemon, who is also an ECU student and Rachel’s twin sister. Rebekah, 23, has been involved in community theatre for over a decade and is excited to be part of another LCCFPA production. Sharing the stage with loved ones makes the experience even more meaningful for her.

Travis Johnson takes on the role of Darkness in his third LCC show. Having just earned his associate's degree from LCC this past May, Travis is now headed to ECU to study theatre. He’s had a great time with this cast and leaves audiences with a fitting message: “The darkness is creeping towards you!”

Also portraying Darkness is Jordan Johnson, Travis’s twin brother, who is making his LCC debut. Jordan has plenty of experience both onstage and backstage through five productions with the North Lenoir Drama Department. A recent LCC graduate, he will begin studying theatre production at ECU this fall.

With not one, but two sets of twins among Anastasia’s talented cast, it’s double the talent and double the fun in this unforgettable production!
