By: Cailyn Kennedy

This summer, journey through time with Anastasia: The Musical as it takes center stage at Lenoir Community College’s Briley Auditorium. Based on the beloved animated film and the legendary mystery of the Romanov family, the show follows Anya, a young woman with no memory of her past, as she teams up with two schemers to discover her true identity. From the shadows of post-revolutionary Russia to the glitz of 1920s Paris, Anastasia is a sweeping adventure filled with breathtaking music, emotional discovery, and the enduring search for home.

The production, directed by LCC’s Jessica Cruz, will run July 11-13 and July 18-20 in the Briley Auditorium on the Turner Stage. As part of the Lenoir Community College Foundation Performing Arts Series, the show invites audiences of all ages to step into a world of romance, resilience, and royal intrigue. Tickets are available now at www.lenoircc.edu/lccfpa. Ticket prices are as follows: orchestra seating – $20.00, standard seating – $15.00, accessible seating – $15.00, and student standard seating (ages 4–17 or 18+ with student ID) – $10.00.

Alexander Suggs joins the ensemble this summer and brings plenty of energy to the stage. He started acting at age 7 with GC Kids on Stage in Snow Hill and has loved musical theater ever since. He’s all about comedy, singing, and dreaming big—like maybe even Broadway one day. He also has a soft spot for Lady Gaga and Taco Bell.

Caitlin Waters plays Dunya and is part of the ensemble cast. A rising sophomore at Meredith College, Caitlin is studying Music, Spanish, and more. She got her start in musical theater during high school with Mamma Mia! and has been hooked ever since. Outside of rehearsal, she enjoys creative projects and spending time with family and friends.

Jacob Potter returns to the LCC stage as Sergei. This is Jacob’s second production with LCCFPA and he is thrilled to be a part of such an amazing cast. In his free time, Jacob loves playing pickleball and spending quality time with friends.

Jessica Creech is back on stage as Paulina and loving every minute. This is her second time performing, but her favorite role is still “Mama.” She’s thankful for her family’s support, her husband’s encouragement, and the chance to be part of something fun and creative. Offstage, she works as a parenthood photographer and loves capturing special moments.

Rebecca Cornelison plays Marfa and brings lots of stage experience with her. She’s currently studying Communication Studies and Business at UNC Wilmington and has been a fan of musical theater for years. In high school, she performed in five shows—her favorite role was Maggie in 42nd Street. She hopes to work for Disney in advertising one day and combine her love of creativity and business.

Turner White makes his LCCFPA debut as Count Gregory. He’s from Pink Hill and is a nursing student at the University of Mount Olive. This is his first time performing at LCC, and he’s had a great experience. Turner is especially thankful for the support from his family and friends as he takes on something new.
