Embezzlement Investigation Leads to Arrest
In March of this year, the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office received a report from the Lenoir County Shrine Club, Sudan Motor Patrol. It was reported to the Sheriff’s Office that Shrine Club funds were possibly being misappropriated.
The investigation, conducted by the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office General Investigations Division (GID), revealed that there were multiple unapproved purchases and withdrawals made utilizing the Sudan’s financial card.
Investigators determined that Jason Leon Cash, 43, of Lenoir County and former treasurer of the Sudan Motor Patrol, was the responsible party for these transactions. As a result, Cash was arrested and charged with multiple counts of Embezzlement by a Public Office/Trustee. Cash went before a magistrate where he received a $50,000 bond. He has a first appearance scheduled for July 14, 2025.
All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
