Man arrested after leading patrol deputies on high speed chase
A man who led detectives from the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office’s Street Crimes and Rapid Response (SCARR) unit and patrol deputies on a high speed chase was arrested last week.
On Friday, May 31, Zachary Wetherington, 25, of Lenoir County, was observed by detectives and deputies of operating a motorcycle at a high rate of speed. After officials attempted to stop him, he led the LCSO on a chase into Greene County, where he was apprehended.
While securing Wetherington, deputies found marijuana in his possession. He was charged with felony flee to elude with a motor vehicle, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and several traffic offenses.
Wetherington was booked into the Lenoir County Jail under a $10,000 secured bond.
