UNC Health Lenoir Welcomes Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Lawrence “Sonny” Larabee
UNC Health Lenoir is pleased to welcome Dr. Lawrence “Sonny” Larabee to our Orthopedic and Sports Medicine team.
A native of eastern North Carolina, Dr. Larabee was born and raised in Perquimans County in the northeastern part of the state. A former student athlete, Dr. Larabee’s own experience with orthopedic injuries sparked his passion for medicine and ultimately led him to pursue a career in orthopedic surgery.
Dr. Larabee completed his undergraduate education at Davidson College and Asbury College before earning his medical degree from Wake Forest University. He went on to complete his residency at McLaren Regional Medical Center in Michigan.
With over 27 years of experience practicing in Ahoskie, NC, Dr. Larabee now brings his dedication to patient-centered care and a broad expertise in general orthopedics to the Kinston community. His specialties include joint replacement and joint revision. Dr. Larabee is committed to helping patients return to active, healthy lifestyles through personalized orthopedic care.

Dr. Larabee and his wife, Meg, recently relocated to Kinston. They have four children and three grandchildren. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling and spending time with his family.
