A Day For Mothers

As we approach Mother’s Day on Sunday May 11, let us rejoice in the opportunity to celebrate the most selfless and nurturing individuals in our lives. Whether you choose to honor your Mother on this day by giving her flowers, cards, money, jewelry, a special meal, family gatherings, or completing special chores for her, remember that the love and appreciation we show her is a reflection of the boundless love and devotion she has showered upon us. The pride, joy, and happiness that radiates from Mothers on this special day is a testament to the profound impact they have on our lives.

Mother’s Day is not only a day to shower love and affection on biological mothers but also an occasion to acknowledge and celebrate the contributions of grandmothers, stepmothers, adoptive mothers, guardians, and all women who have selflessly given their time, energy, and effort to nurture us throughout our lifetime.

As I reflect on Mother’s Day, my thoughts are filled with love and gratitude for my dear Mother, Verna Mae Tillman Chapman. She embodies the qualities of a dedicated, loving, and caring Mother, inspiring me and our entire family with her unwavering devotion to her seven daughters and grand children. As the oldest living family member of the Dixon, Tillman, and Chapman families, her presence is a blessing to us all.

In February, we celebrated Mother’s 96th birthday, a milestone that filled our hearts with joy and our spirits with awe. Her day was a vibrant celebration of life, love, and family, marked by non-stop visits, phone calls, gifts, flowers, and delectable food. As she looked back on her life, she marveled at the blessing of having lived to see 96 years, a testament to her resilience and faith.

My Mother remains a shining example of strength, determination, and grace. Her zest for life is contagious, inspiring us all to live each day to the fullest. Her daily routine is a reflection of her vibrant personality – she insists on wearing colorful outfits, styling her hair, or wearing matching turbans and applying her favorite lipstick, ready to take on the day with enthusiasm and charm. Her love for the TV show "In The Heat Of The Night" is a source of delight, as she can recall every episode with remarkable clarity.

I firmly believe that God has blessed Mother with longevity due to her unwavering trust, faith, and love for Him. Her life is a testament to the power of devotion, perseverance, and hope.

As we celebrate Mother’s Day, let us honor all Mothers everywhere for their selfless love, dedication, and sacrifices. May their lives be filled with joy, love, and appreciation, not just on this special day but throughout the year. Happy Mother’s Day!
