Raleigh woman arrested after vehicle pursuit and crash in Kinston
On April 11, 2025, officers from the Kinston Police Department’s C-Squad attempted a traffic stop on Macon Street. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and fled, initiating a pursuit. The chase ended when the driver crashed into a fence. She then fled on foot into nearby woods, taking an 8-year-old passenger with her.
Officers quickly apprehended the driver, identified as 50-year-old Jeannette Darden of Raleigh, NC. Darden was charged with the following offenses:
Felony Flee to Elude Arrest
Felony Possession of Cocaine
Two counts of Felony Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer
Resisting Arrest
Misdemeanor Child Abuse
Open Container Violation
Driving While License Revoked
Driving While Impaired
Multiple Traffic Violations
Additionally, officers served Darden with an outstanding Order for Arrest related to a probation violation from another county. She is currently being held at the Lenoir County Jail.
The 8-year-old passenger was unharmed and has been released into the custody of a parent.
