Employee Charged Following Theft Investigation at Local Business
On December 2, 2025, Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office D-Shift deputies responded to 1101 W. New Bern Road (Fuel Warehouse) in reference to a report of lost money.
Deputies met with the reporting party and began gathering information regarding the incident. The reporting party provided surveillance video footage for review.
Upon reviewing the footage, deputies determined that an employee unlawfully removed $2,289.01 from a money bag. Deputies were able to identify the suspect as Jessica Ellen Spruill, 49 of Dudley, NC. Warrants were issued for Ms. Spruill on December 5, 2025, for the following charges:
• Felony Larceny by Employee
• Felony Obtaining Property by False Pretenses
Ms. Spruill was served with the warrants on December 6, 2025, by Wayne County Sheriff’s Office deputies. She was issued a $6,000 unsecured bond.
