Dover Man Arrested Following Disturbance and Assault on Deputy
On December 21, 2025, Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office D Shift deputies responded to the area of Tower Hill Road and Dunn Family Road after a male subject requested assistance, reporting he was being chased.
Deputies located the subject on Dunn Family Road, where he became uncooperative and a physical altercation occurred as a Deputy attempted to detain him. The subject was identified as Vincent Cox, 60, of Dover, NC.
Deputies learned Mr. Cox had unlawfully entered a residence on Dunn Family Road and pushed an elderly female before being removed from the home by family members. A Schedule II controlled substance was located on his person. Both Mr. Cox and the arresting Deputy sustained minor injuries, and EMS transported Mr. Cox to UNC Lenoir for treatment.
Mr. Cox was charged with Felony Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer Inflicting Physical Injury, Felony Possession of Cocaine, Misdemeanor Breaking and Entering, and Misdemeanor Assault on an Individual with a Disability. Upon release from the hospital, he was transported to the W.E. Billy Smith Detention Center and issued a secured bond of $150,000.
