Obituary: Andy Harrison
La Grange- Andrew Jackson “Andy” Harrison Jr., 55, passed away on December 17, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family while under the compassionate care of Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Andy was born in Lenoir County on December 20, 1969, to Jack and Myrtle Harrison.
Andy worked for many years as an electrician’s assistant alongside his best friend, Nelson Harrison, and later with his uncle, Dennis Harrison. He would much rather work than do anything else. Known for his strong work ethic and natural ability to fix nearly anything, Andy was the man to call when something needed to be done. From electrical work and plumbing to refinishing furniture, there was little he couldn’t repair. At home, his television was almost always tuned to small engine repair shows, where he eagerly watched, learned, and absorbed every detail.
Fishing on the river and riding his golf cart were two of Andy’s favorite pastimes. His golf cart could take him just about anywhere he wanted to go, and he proved it. Outfitted with an excellent stereo system, he enjoyed cruising the roads while listening to his favorite country music. Time at home was spent with his best canine friend, Ellie Mae.
Andy was also an avid collector with an extensive knife collection. He was known for being stubborn, with little patience and a very strong will. With a strong peculiar streak, he wanted everything done just right, and for Andy, that usually meant doing things his way.
A service of love and remembrance will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at Trinity Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Gerald Fowler officiating. The family will receive friends in the hour prior to service at the church. Committal will follow the service at Fairview Cemetery, La Grange.
In addition to his parents, Andy is survived by his sister, Leslie Mackenzie and husband Mitchell; nieces, Balie Leggett and husband Trey, Olivia Reece and fiancé, John, and Elaina Reece and fiancé, Landon; great-niece, Tinsley; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family.
Andy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Eugene and Nannie Susan Harrison, and Robert and Rosa Lee Pelletier.
