William “Billy” Dean Elmore

Jan. 1, 1973 – Nov. 24, 2025

William “Billy” Dean Elmore, 52, of Deep Run, passed away on November 24, 2025, at ECU Vidant Medical Health Center in Greenville, NC. He was born on January 1, 1973, and took great pride in knowing he was the first baby born in Lenoir County that year. Billy was a lifetime member of Holy Innocents Episcopal Church in Seven Springs, NC.

Billy was a 1991 graduate of South Lenoir High School and attended Wayne Community College. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Masonic Lodge, where he had served as a Master Mason in the past. Billy worked for the State of North Carolina in many capacities: NC Department of Environmental and Natural Resources (NCDENR); NC Department of Corrections (NCDOC); NC Department of Transportation – Bridge Division (NCDOT); Lenoir County Transit; and later, after his retirement, he worked with Futrell’s Pre-Casting, LLC.

Billy was a simple man who loved life, and the love of his life was his daughter, Maci Jo. His second love was his beloved fur baby, Marley Sue. Billy loved the beach, and during the summer he could be found sitting under his Shibumi Shade gazing at the ocean he loved so dearly. There was something about the tranquility of the beach that restored his soul. Billy’s favorite time was the family’s yearly weeklong July 4th vacation to Emerald Isle. Family memories and family time were some of Billy’s favorites. In addition, Billy was a master griller and enjoyed grilling and cooking for his family, which was one of the many ways he showed his love to his family and friends. Finally, Billy served his church faithfully as an usher and served on the vestry numerous times.

Billy is predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Bruce and Lela Elmore; maternal grandparents, William and Mary Coltrain; and his uncle, Clinton West Elmore. Billy is survived by his daughter, Maci Jo Elmore; parents, Larry Dean and Edith Coltrain Elmore; sisters, Donna Smith (Robbie) and Wendy Sutton (Billy); uncle, Eddie Coltrain; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Innocents Episcopal Church, Attn: Donna B. Jones, 6861 NC-55, Seven Springs, NC 28578. Arrangements are entrusted to Rouse Funeral Home, LaGrange.
