Evelyn Dove Coleman: Fonda's Attitude About Death
Jane Fonda talked to Michelle Obama on her podcast about how she feels about dying. Jane has been famous for decades and had famous parents also. In the podcast, she spoke matter-of-factly about believing in living fully and accepting that one day this life as it is ends. Her attitude is one of logic.
As I read the article about Jane Fonda, I felt a sense of gratitude to my mother who taught me to view death as a transition to an eternal resting place. When I was a little girl, it seemed in my little girl mind that my mother was always taking food over to bereaved families and going to funerals. So, I had a lot of questions.
The advice given to me was to live this life we're given the best way we can. Treat people well and work diligently. Take good care of your body and your mind. Have a sincere spiritual relationship with your maker and have your soul right when your time to rest comes. Some readers may remember my sweet mother. Jettie Roberta Greene Dove was called Jett. She would say to keep some joy in your heart whatever betides. Then rest in peace in eternity.
