7:02 PM – DWI Arrest on W. Vernon Avenue

Officers responded to 1501 W. Vernon Avenue in reference to a motor vehicle crash. Upon investigation, officers determined that one of the drivers, 50-year-old Robert Williams, appeared to be impaired. A DWI investigation was conducted, resulting in Williams’ arrest for Driving While Impaired. He was also charged with several additional motor vehicle violations and his vehicle was seized in accordance with North Carolina state law.

10:16 PM – Vehicle Pursuit on Harvey Street

Officers attempted to stop a vehicle on Harvey Street; however, the driver refused to pull over, prompting a pursuit. The suspect eventually stopped on Rosedale Avenue and fled on foot. Officers later identified the driver as 53-year-old Timothy Smith. At approximately 12:23 AM, Smith turned himself in at the Kinston Police Department. He was charged with the following offenses:

• Felony Flee to Elude

• Reckless Driving

• Resisting a Public Officer

• Driving While License Revoked

• Additional Motor Vehicle Violations

• (Unrelated) Order for Arrest Served

Smith’s vehicle was also seized under North Carolina state law.

1:00 AM – DWI Arrest at Vernon Avenue and Hull Road

Officers responded to a single-vehicle crash where a car was found stuck on the railroad tracks. The driver, 25-year-old Andrea Walker, was suspected of impairment. Following a DWI investigation, Walker was arrested for Driving While Impaired and charged with multiple motor vehicle violations.

6:57 PM – Stolen Moped Recovered on Queen Street

Officers conducted a traffic stop on a moped near Queen Street and Wilson Avenue. The investigation revealed that the moped had been reported stolen in 2022. The operator, Arsenio Simmons, was also suspected of impairment. After a DWI and theft investigation, Simmons was arrested for Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, Driving While Impaired, and additional motor vehicle violations.
