Bradfest returns to Kinston for third annual celebration of art and unity

Bradfest is preparing for a large turnout at its third annual festival, continuing its mission to unite the community through music and art.
The festival was established in 2023 in honor of Brad Elmore, a Kinston native remembered for his passion for music and his dream of community growth. One of the event’s organizers, Stacy Heath, said Bradfest was created to carry forward Elmore’s legacy of creativity and togetherness.
“Brad was very diverse in his music background,” Heath said. “He would advocate for more music genres such as funk and reggae.”
Heath hopes the event will strengthen Kinston’s cultural connections. “It’s going to bring people from out of town together, since it’s a friendly environment,” he said.
Bradfest’s long-term goal is to become a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering unity, growth and inspiration for new artists and musicians.
“We have the opportunity to bring music back as much as we can,” Heath said enthusiastically. “We want to grow it to a point it’s gonna be another staple like the barbecue festival.”
Organizers say unity and diversity remain at the heart of Bradfest’s mission. The festival, on Saturday from 12:00 pm until 8:00 pm, aims to celebrate creativity, encourage community involvement and preserve Elmore’s legacy of passion for art and music.
