NWS: Severe Thunderstorm Risk Wednesday

There will be a slight risk (Level 2 of 5) of isolated to scattered severe thunderstorms developing across portions of eastern North Carolina today.

Key Points

- The locations most likely to see severe thunderstorms are across the coastal plain, particularly south of Highway 64. This includes the Crystal Coast.

- The highest risk of strong storms will be between 4-8 pm, but activity could develop as early as 1-2 pm. Any severe threat will come to an end by 10-11 pm tonight.

- The primary severe risk is damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph, but hail up to quarter sized is also possible. There is a marginal tornado threat mainly across the inner coastal plain.
