Obituary: Warren M. Tyndall, Jr.

Warren M. Tyndall, Jr. residing at Lenoir Assisted Living in Pink Hill, NC made his transition into the Presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at UNC Lenoir Hospital on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 after a very brief illness.

Warren is preceded in death by his wife, Kay Spence Tyndall, his parents, William M. Tyndall, Sr. and Frances Loftin Tyndall and an infant sister Gloria Jean Tyndall

Warren was raised in Jones County and spent his adult life in Lenoir County.

Warren spent most of his working life as a disc jockey at WFTC and WRNS.

He was part of radio greatness in eastern North Carolina. He spent many years as the host of “Concert Hall” which aired nightly on WFTC. When WRNS-FM began its rise to greatness, he was the host of “Town and Country Time” every afternoon from

Noon – 6:00 pm. He also hosted the famous call in show “Swap Shop.”

Warren dabbled in a few other opportunities along the way from selling cars to selling insurance but nothing could top his celebrity as a radio personality great.

He was also a antique car collector.

Warren was dedicated Mason and a Shriner. He served as the Master of St. John’s Lodge No. 4 in Kinston. He was also a member of the Shrine Convertible Unit.

He spent the last 8 plus years of his life as a resident of Lenoir Assisted Living in Pink Hill. Thank you to all the staff and management of Lenoir Assisted Living for taking care of Warren, especially when he could be very cantankerous.

He is survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A special thanks to Scott Spence, (Warren’s nephew) and his family for all they did to help in his transition to assisted living care and Rick Vernon, a longtime friend, who has looked after his needs while he was in assisted living.

His graveside service will be held on Friday, Feb. 16th at 11:00 am at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Kinston with full Masonic Rites. Pastor Rick Vernon, officiating.
